About Us - Immaculate Conception Church Choir
The Immaculate Conception Church Choir is a volunteer choir of amateur musicians who sing for one of the largest Catholic churches in the Midwest that uses the traditional Roman Catholic liturgy. For over 30 years, the choir has sung sacred music within the context of the traditional Mass and liturgy. The focus of its repertory is Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony. The choir was awarded a Silver Medal in the Mixed Chamber Choir competition--Champions division of the 2012 World Choir Games. They have been featured twice on television broadcasts of Christmas Midnight Mass and have released one CD, Adoramus Te.
Our volunteers have always come from the parish--members who enjoy the great privilege of contributing to the beauty of the Mass and ceremonies.
"Whenever music, instead of assuming a character of independence and mere ornament, acts as an auxiliary to the other means of promoting the worship of God and as an incentive to good, it not only does not interfere with the religious ceremony, but, on the contrary, imparts to it the greatest splendour and effectiveness (Catholic Encyclopedia)."
The choir is under the direction of Dr. Travis Yeager. Dr. Yeager has studied choral conducting under Joseph Flummerfelt, Andrew Megill, and Robert Porco, and organ under Marilyn Keiser and Stefan Engels. He has given workshops on chant and Catholic sacred music throughout the Midwest, and he has presented his research on sacred music and medieval chant at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Yeager holds a B.M. in Organ Performance from Indiana University, an M.M. in Sacred Music and Music Education from Westminster Choir College, and a Ph.D. in Musicology from Indiana University.

Hear what our choir members have to say!
"I have found my choir participation to be a deeply rewarding experience.
We are one of the tools that the faithful use to meditate and pray
during Mass and other ceremonies.
On top of that, I simply enjoy singing with my comrades."
"I love to express myself with my voice."
"Choir is one of those things I really can't imagine my life without anymore.
I've been a member since 11th grade, and have enjoyed every minute of it!"
"I get to sing with some pretty amazing people who I am very glad to call my friends and
we are given the opportunity to sing some of the most beautiful motets and masses."
"I am very blessed to be a part of such a talented group of people.
I love singing with this choir and using my voice to glorify God!"
"I decided to join the choir because of my passion to sing and to serve God through music.
God has given each of us certain gifts and asks that we use them to glorify Him.
And, who's to say you can't have fun doing it too?!"
"I joined the choir a bit before Christmas 2011 because I love to sing, but I have been in a choir
since I was nine, the youngest age they would let me in."
"Being in this choir has taught me so much about music and is so much fun,
it has become the highlight of my week!! I love it!!"
