ICC Choir starts the summer season - join us!
June 2013
It's part of the yearly cycle - from September until May, the choir's activities revolve around two beautiful feasts: Christmas and Easter. The months leading up to and immediately following each feast day are full of beautiful music; music that requires lots of rehearsal, and then the precious opportunities to sing it for Our Lord.
And then we have a new season - June to August is summertime break! Simpler but long-cherished Masses and hymns, and simple chant make up most of our summer. It's a good time to relax, and it's an even better time to JOIN us!
Summer really is the time to try out the church choir. With short rehearsals and hymns you've heard since you were a child, it's easy to jump in and get a taste of what it's like to be a choir member!
Contact Travis for information on joining us, even if just for this summer season! We welcome people to join us for these couple months in the privilege of singing for Our Lord!

Merry Christmas!
Emmanuel - God with us! Once again, we had the great privilege of singing the celebration of the Christ Child!
Silent Night, Missa O Magnum, Mary's Lullaby and more - it was a beautiful Mass at Immaculate Conception Church!
Thank you to all the choir members for their hard work, and of course to our dedicated director!

Sing we now of Christmas - ICC carols!
Immaculate Conception Church choir got a chance to give back to Norwood on Saturday, December 1, as we sang carols for Norwood's Christmas festival! With everything fom Santa hats to impromptu tenors, the choir sang hymns and secular songs to rounds of applause.
We sing AGAIN in Washington Park on December 15- come hear us in front of Music Hall from 6-7 pm! Bring your hats and your Christmas spirit!

Last chance to hear us sing in the World Choir Games!
There's one last chance to hear us sing before the World Choir Games pack up. Come here us tonight at Holy Cross-Immaculata Church in Mt. Adams. There is a pre-concert organ recital at 7:00pm on the lovely 1895 pipe organ by Mr. Blake Callahan, from the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains. We are scheduled to be the first choir to sing at 7:30pm. Stick around for a post-concert reception! Be sure to arrive early--they're expecting a full house!
And for those of you dying to know the results of yesterday's competition...
You're not alone! But we won't know anything until the Award Ceremony tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!

Just in! WE'RE IN THE CHAMPIONS COMPETITION!
Our Qualifying Hearing was this morning (Wednesday), and the vote of the judges was unanimous: we are approved to compete in the Champions Competition! We will compete at Christ Church Cathedral, tomorrow, Thursday, July 12, at the 4:00pm competition. We will sing at approximately 5:30pm. Unfortunately, tickets are already sold out, but if you already have a ticket, make a point to come cheer us on!
Gearing up for competition - Chant Workshop was great!
Travis was selected to give a workshop on Gregorian Chant as part of the many workshops offered to choir participants and public alike during the Games. The audience was very engaged and it was a great success - we had everyone singing chant along with our demo choir! Our collaboration with the Gregorian Choir has once again been such a blessing - they came out and were the (greater) majority of the demo choir - thanks again, all!
Thanks for a great afternoon at Grace UMC!
A big THANK YOU to those who came to cheer us on at our July 8 Friendship Concert at Grace United Methodist in Dayton. A very special thank you to Dr. Robert Jones and all the folks at Grace UMC for their warm and gracious hospitality. We had the pleasure of singing before a VERY packed house, who greeted us very enthusiastically. It was a great kick-off for an exciting week with the World Choir Games!

Friendship Concerts - there are plenty!
We are honored to be participating in three different Friendship Concerts for the World Choir Games!
What exactly is a 'Friendship Concert'? Per the official WCG website:
"An important feature of the World Choir Games are “Friendship Concerts” provided by many of the participating choirs. These concerts create opportunities for the Cincinnati Organizing Committee to enable people from throughout the community to experience the Games for no cost. Each “Friendship Concert” is likely to include 3-4 choirs who are official participants in the Games. Each choir will perform 15 to 20 minutes, resulting in a 45 - 80-minute concert."
Come hear us sing our pieces alongside other international choirs - it promises to be quite a treat! Our performances are as follows (visit our WCG page for more details):
July 8, 3pm - Grace United Methodist Church, Dayton OH
July 11, 7pm - St. James Episcopal Church, Cincinnati OH
July 13, 7:30pm - Holy Cross-Immaculata Church, Cincinnati, OH
For a FULL list of Friendship Concerts throughout the events, please see the official Event Schedule, posted on the WCG page here!
